When there’s a concern among all computer users of virus, malware and what not, people have been looking for the best antivirus that they can rely on. Some do ask me, what antivirus is the best. Well, that depends. You have to understand how antivirus works in the first place.

Most antivirus depends on a signature. File signature is like an identity to all files. Its unique between all files that you have in your computer. These signature is the virus definition that you download transparently when you update your antivirus. In this case, if there is a new virus that have not been recognized yet by the antivirus, or in other words, does not included in the update, your antivirus will do nothing ignore it like all other files in your computer.

Some antivirus do have different ways to detect a virus. Some do through heuristic analysis, where it will look into the file system activity, and flag any activity that virus alike. In most cases, there are false positive detection.

Beware of fake antivirus.

There are also some party who involve in creating a fake antivirus. Basically pretending to be an antivirus, but he is the bad guy!!

When downloaded and executed, it will tell show some reports, telling that you computer have infection, and need attention, but it doesn’t actually exist. Some of them event promoting their so-called antivirus everywhere. So, you should be careful. Dont easily be cheated by them.

Stick to one antivirus, and update them regularly. It it tell you you have not updated your antivirus, you’re in trouble.
